Working with the NHS

AgorIP aims to provide NHS Wales organisations with a framework for commercialisation, as well as support and capacity to commercialise specific innovations. Our projecy, which is part funded by the European Union through the Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, works across all sectors, from business, to academia and to the NHS.

The NHS is a vital part of AgorIP delivering IP commercialisation. Each healthcare board across Wales has access to NHS resources, managers, expertise, process and, where appropriate, funding. Innovation in the NHS can come from a wide number of people, across a broad spectrum of subjects. Finding these ideas can be a challenge and so, we have our own in-house secondees, currently within Hywel Dda, Cwm Taf and Betsi Cadwaldar University Health Boards.

These managers are based within the hospitals and actively seek staff members with new ideas, help them with IP advice and strategy, and support them, with the whole team, to take their idea through to commercialisation.

All this means that AgorIP can assist, fund and develop NHS ideas for the benefit of the NHS, patients, local business and the economy as a whole.
